For the first time, Real Life will be taking a Junior-High only Missions Trip.  This trip is for students exiting 6^th-8^th grades and is a great opportunity for students to have a low-cost missions experience in the United States.  Students will be have a variety of ministry opportunities, including serving at a retirement home, a city mission, and a food pantry.

LOCATION:  Princeton, West Virginia

DATE:  June 28-July 1, 2012

COST:  $175  (includes transportation, 3 nights lodging, meals, and 2 t-shirts)            students may want to bring extra money ($20 should be plenty) for snacks and stops on the road

General Information 

DEADLINE | All participants must register and pay in FULL by Sunday, June 10^th. In addition to their payment, students must fill out a Medical Release Form, available at the Real Life Info Desk or at the “Forms” tab above.  If the student already has a Medical Release Form on file from Youth Convention, then they do not need to complete another one.

Registration is available online.  If you are planning on using Fundraising money for the trip, registration must be done through Betsy.

FUNDRAISING | Students who are 14 and older can sign up to work at the Maple Grove raceway.  Additionally, all students may also have their friends and family sign up to work on their behalf.  Volunteers at Maple Grove earn $5/hour towards any Real Life trip.  Students are also welcome to organize fundraisers on their own or in a small group.  We’ve found that fundraisers like car washes and bake sales are most profitable when they are run by a small group at an off-campus location (like Wal-Mart or Sam’s Club). We will be happy to provide you with a letter and any correspondence you would need to organize this sort of fundraiser.

LOCATIONS | We will be staying at the Planet Xtreme Teen Center in Princeton, West Virginia.

MEALS | All meals are included in the trip cost.  While there will be snacks packed for travel to and from West Virginia, students may bring extra money for any stops on the trip.

DRESS | Dress for the trip is casual and modest. Students will be wearing their team t-shirts for outreaches and ministry opportunities.  A more detailed packing list will be available closer to the trip.

One day, we will be going to a park with a creek, where we will have an opportunity to swim. Girls may wear a modest one-piece swimming suit or tankini (or wear a dark colored tank top or t-shirt over their swimming suit.  Please also bring athletic shorts and a t-shirt or tank top to wear over your swimsuit.

CELL PHONES | Students are not permitted to bring their cell phones on the trip so that their full focus can be on the ministry that we’ll be doing while in West Virginia.  In case of any emergencies, students will be able to use the phone of one of the leaders.

Sign-ups are available online and in the NextGen Center a few weeks leading up to each event.

Students 14 and older can sign up for shifts to work concession stands at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, PA.  Students earn $5/hour and can also have family and friends sign up to work on their behalf.  All money earned is credited to each individual student’s fundraising account and can be applied to any Real Life trip.

If you are going to Youth Convention, you will need to be at GT no later than 3 pm on Thursday, April 5th.  

Please turn in your Medical Form to Betsy BEFORE trip departure.  Medical forms can be found under the “Forms” tab at the top of this screen or can be picked up at the NextGen info desk.

School Absence letters on GT letterhead are available at the info desk in the NextGen Center.

We will be returning to GT around 11:30/12:00 on Friday, April 6th.

District Fine Arts & Youth Convention is almost here!

The three trip options are:

FINE ARTS ONLY | For students who are interested in participating in Fine Arts ONLY, the dates are Wednesday, April 4^th to Thursday, April 5^th.  The cost for Fine Arts students is $60 for lodging (Wednesday night) and meals (lunch and dinner on Wednesday and lunch on Thursday).  Students will need to be at the church on Wednesday morning (a specific time will be available at www.reallifeonline.com closer to the trip).  Competition will run until approximately 4:00pm on Thursday.  We will provide transportation to the conference center on Wednesday, but parents will need to make arrangements to pick up their students at the conference center on Thursday.  Real Life will NOT be providing transportation back to the church on Thursday.

YOUTH CONVENTION ONLY | For students attending Youth Convention ONLY (not participating in Fine Arts), the dates are Thursday, April 5^th to Friday, April 6^th.  The cost for Youth Convention is $110 which includes registration, transportation, and lodging.  Meals are not included in this price, so students will need to bring spending money for fast food.  Student attending Youth Convention only will meet at the church on Thursday afternoon and return to the church around midnight on Friday.  Specific times will be available at www.reallifeonline.com closer to the trip.

FINE ARTS & YOUTH CONVENTION | For students participanting in Fine Arts and staying for Youth Convention, the cost in $170 all together.  Lunch and dinner are provided on Wednesday, and lunch is provided on Thursday.  Students will need extra meal money for the remainder of the trip.

2012 Medical Release Form

Click the link above to download the medical release form (you may have to select it several times).  You can fill it out on your computer, save as “Medical Release Form – (your name)” and email it to betsygettis@gtaog.org (only works if you have Adobe Acrobat Pro) OR you can fill it out, print it, and submit it at the Real Life offices or info center.

You only need to submit a medical release form once a year, and it will cover all trips within that given year.  If you are uncertain if you have a current medical release form on record with us, email betsygettis@gtaog.org.
